Dinner the other night was great, and I loved the flowers that he bought me. Not only were they thoughtful but he even picked my favorites. He put a lot of thought behind them.
It was obvious that he feels like an ass for making a move on me, and maybe I was a little too hard on him. I never expected him to apologize, though. I ignored him for a couple of days until he called me and now I feel like a jackass.
Is it bad that I was disappointed when he took me home after dinner? I was halfway expecting to hang out a bit more but I didn’t want to push my luck. We were having such a great time, and I didn’t see a need to ruin it. Sometimes things are best in smaller doses and maybe he’s one of those things. But I can’t get enough of him for some reason.
Something about him has changed, though. I can’t quite put my finger on it but he seems more genuine and down to earth than what I remember. I almost texted him earlier to see about doing something today but I chickened out. Courtney has been all over me to invite him over because she wants to meet the guy who I used to hate and am now beginning to fall for.
Yes, I said it.
I’m starting to fall for him.
When Courtney walks through the door, she motions for me to take out my earbuds.
“What’s up?” I ask.
“Tonight, we’re having dinner,” she says, swirling her fingers between the two of us. “And we’re eating at home but we’re having guests over, so get your ass ready!”
“What?” I ask, confused. “Who’s having dinner? And why are we eating here?”
“Because,” she giggles, plopping down on my bed. “I met this cool guy. His name’s Brad, and I invited him over.”
“So if you’re entertaining company, why do I need to get dressed? I can just stay in my room.”
“Nope, it’s not happening. You’re going to call Mr. I-Hate-You and invite him over because we’re having a double date!”
“We are not!” I shout. My jaw hangs open in awe. I can’t believe she’d set up something like this.
“Yes, we are and I already told Brad that your boyfriend is coming over so he’s going to expect to see another guy here. You don’t want to look like the loser roommate who’s single, do you?”
“Seriously, Court, what the fuck? Why would you do this to me?”
“Because I love you and we both know how much you like Danny. Now, get him on the phone and tell him dinner’s at 7.”
Without another word, she marches out of my room and leaves me no choice but to call him. I hope he doesn’t answer as the phone starts to ring, but he does.
“Hey, Jenny! I was just thinking about you,” he answers his phone.
“You were? Why?”
“My mom was making sure we’re still coming for dinner this Sunday and asked me if you like meatloaf. I told her I’d have to check with you.
